Truckworx Employee Spotlight: Del Tolliver, Montgomery

BIRMINGHAM – From the moment Del Tolliver walks into the Truckworx-Montgomery parts warehouse each day, he does it with a smile and with enthusiasm that lights up the entire building.

“Del always has a great attitude and his work ethic is tremendous,” said Montgomery branch manager Cullen McDavid. “We have been understaffed in the warehouse for a while now and Del has really stepped up to help us when we needed him most.”

A trait taught to him by his grandmother, that tremendous work ethic is something that has been a part of Del’s character since he was young.

“I am an only child and learned accountability from my grandmother,” said Del. “She taught me that there is no ability like accountability and that has stuck with me my whole life.”

His work ethic was evident through his decorated athletic career as well. Del was a star wide receiver in high school, earning a spot in the Elite Eight as one of the state of Alabama’s top-8 football players his senior year.

Del attended Alabama State University and received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Walden University. Before joining the team at Truckworx, Del worked at Montgomery Job Corps as a recreation specialist.

Del joined Truckworx about eight months after the recommendation from his friend, Stephen Purnell, who also works in the Montgomery warehouse. He says since he started, he has not looked back, but only forward to progress and personal development.

“Working here has taught me that there are no shortcuts to success,” said Del. “You will always get out what you put in and success cannot be faked.”

In particular, Del says he enjoys the hands-on aspect of his job at Truckworx, saying that it requires each task to be taken on with a positive mindset.

“Having an encouraging state-of-mind allows me to learn new things daily, and it makes those things easier and more fun to learn as well,” said Del. “I am always willing to learn and show dedication, which always leads to a fun and productive time at work.”

Del’s mindset and attitude is something that stands out to his coworkers, too.

“When we see Del each day, we know he is coming in with a positive outlook and a great sense of humor,” said McDavid.

Thank you, Del, for bringing a positive attitude and great work ethic to Truckworx-Montgomery and keep doing what’s right for the right reasons every day!
