Truckworx vice president of parts Jeff Weaver and Montgomery branch manager Cullen McDavid saw great potential in current TRP Auburn manager trainee Dylan Brogden when they brought him onto the team in summer of 2019.
“When we hired Dylan, he was too young to even drive for the company,” said Weaver. “We saw an ambitious young man when we brought him on and we were right. Dylan has proven himself in every role we have given him, from running the warehouse to working the front parts counter and now in outside sales.”
A lifetime resident of the Montgomery, Ala. area, Dylan was referred to Truckworx by a friend, and has been with Truckworx for three years now.
Before coming to Truckworx, Dylan served as a manager for a retail store, which he says was more of a high school job that focused on the day-to-day aspects of the business. He was interested in finding a place to start his career, somewhere he could get hands-on, real-world experience.
“Truckworx has taught me a lot in terms of growth and responsibility,” Dylan said. “I have matured so much by learning from the guys who are older than me with a lot more experience in life and in this field of work.”
Dylan’s desire to grow both personally and professionally is something that is not lost on his managers and those around him, either.
“Dylan was a diamond in the rough,” said McDavid. “His work ethic is great and he has excelled at every task we’ve put in front of him. Not only is he a hard worker, but he is also very coachable. He listens to advice, asks a lot of questions and takes so much pride in everything he does. He is just a great young man.”
While Dylan says there are many different things that he appreciates about Truckworx, the biggest factor in his personal development is the people around him.
“There is a lot of knowledge here,” Dylan said. “I am constantly getting new information from these guys who have been in this industry and really want to help me. All of my managers have helped me in one way or another. Cory Bowden (Montgomery parts manager) helped me grow a lot when I first started and Cullen McDavid and Jonathon Frost (TRP Auburn store manager) have both helped me mature and grow.”
As Dylan continues to grow within the company and in his personal life, he says his advice to any young person who is looking to grow would be to give 100% to any task and never give up or give in without looking to learn from a situation.
On a personal level, Dylan recently got engaged to his fiancée, Hannah, and the couple purchased land in Millbrook, Ala., where they will build their first home.
While every one of his managers has some kind of compliment regarding Dylan, perhaps the highest praise comes from Truckworx director of parts Keith King.
“If we had 50 more Dylans, we would be that much better as a company.”
